The Owls would like to pay their respects to long time member Malcolm Jones who was laid to rest on Monday the 22nd of February. Malcolm joined the club in the early nineties, serving as Team Manager and committee member for many years.

Malcolm was a passionate devotee to wheelchair basketball and in 1996 he accompanied Coach John Stainton to the Atlanta Paralympic Games as his right hand man and GB Team Manager. As well as the elite side of the game Malcolm dedicated his time to the development of juniors in the Northwest region, attending the Junior Regional Championships as Team Manager for 5 years.

Unfortunately, Malcolm was not blessed with good health in his later years but his support of the club was unrelenting, often a familiar face at our home games. He was also a popular member of the wider wheelchair basketball community, particularly in Europe where he was well known by players, officials and supporters alike.

The club was fortunate enough to benefit from Malcolm’s support for many years, he will be sadly missed.

RIP Jonesy
